About us - Sarah & Bronwyn

Brought together by a shared love of design, craft and sewing, we rescue vintage picture books from charity stores and library discards, and give them a new life.

Each piece is unique, hand cut, and original.

Please email us at vintagepapercuts [at] gmail.com if you would like to buy one of our creations or would like us to create one especially for you.

The easiest way to purchase an item is to email us.We are located in Sydney, and from time to time have a market stalls (next one - Crows Nest Uniting Church on November 12th 2011).

Butterflies for Kim

This was a special order for Kim's 40th birthday. It featured butterflies in the colour specified by Susanna, who was giving the gifts, and some motifs to make it unique for Kim, as shown in the "pop out" photo - a tea pot (left), books (top right) and a needle and thread (bottom right):

Yes, we have prints suitable for boys!

A page from a Little Golden Book

Found at St Vincent de Paul, Belmont, WA.

A page from a vintage fairytale book

Remember the days before Disney owned fairytales?

Beatrix Potter beauties

From a collection of Beatrix Potter paperbacks being discarded by the local library.

A little book that keeps on giving

Found in the discard pile at St Vincent de Paul, Chatswood.

Cutting by Sarah, curling by Bronwyn

A reproduction of a 1948 Enid Blyton book

Taken from the stories "Pipes for Old Puff" and "The Little Down Cushion".

Rather than an anti-smoking message, we learn that gnomes can fashion pipes from acorns in extremis.

We also learn that if we stuff a pillow with thistle, and leave it outside in the weather, there will be lot of weeding to do!

Vintage bicycle safety posters

Back in the 1970s and '80s these pictures appeared on the back cover of exercise books distributed to children at public schools in Western Australia. Very daggy, but I've always worn or carried something white at night ever since.....
